Fingerprint biometrics

Ask a question

Sigur integration with fingerprint scanners allows the user to add or delete biometric templates directly from the PACS software without the need to use additional software.

Features of fingerprint identification

Fingerprint identification is the most ubiquitous biometric authentication technology. Its advantages include ease of use, convenience and high accuracy.

Its major drawback is sensitivity to the skin condition. Unlike vein pattern identification, fingerprint identification is quite difficult with workers of manual labor.

Integration features

Templates as well as other employee data (name, position, department, etc.) are added directly from Sigur software.

For BioSmart, to add biometric templates to the system, you can use both your regular reader and FS-80 desktop reader connected to a workstation via USB. For Anviz, use U-BIO desktop USB reader for adding templates.

When connected to BioSmart / Anviz devices, the system supports a number of access modes such as:

  • biometrics only
  • card only
  • either card or biometrics
  • two-factor identification: card + biometrics

Architecture of the solution

BioSmart / Anviz devices are connected to Sigur controllers via the standard Wiegand interface, and each reader is connected to the IP network of the site. Sigur server interacts with the readers via the network.

Anviz terminals may be integrated with Sigur directly bypassing the PACS controller.

BioSmart devices

The following models are supported by the system: BioSmart 4, BioSmart 5 and WTC2 terminal.

Readers can operate both in the local or server mode, which means that biometric templates are stored either in BioSmart device memory (up to 4,500 fingerprints) or on the ACS server (with an unlimited number of templates). Please note that BioSmart 5 devices do not support server-based identification and are able to store only up to 1,000 fingerprints in the device memory.

Manufacturer's software is required for the initial configuration of the readers at the startup of the system. After that, it is not required for day-to-day operation of the system.

Anviz devices

The following models are supported by the system: Anviz P7, M5, T5 and Anviz C2 time and attendance terminals. The system can operate only in the local mode, i.e. biometric templates will be stored in Anviz device memory.

Anviz C2 terminal
Unlike scanners, biometric terminals allow the use of a single device for tracking both employees’ arrivals and departures.

To use this terminal in Sigur system, ACS controllers are not required. The terminal will store all events in the internal memory. The integration enables this information to be uploaded to Sigur and processed similar to how the information obtained from the controllers is processed, i.e. the user can analyze it and generate reports.
